Convenience stores, often abbreviated to combini in the common parlance around these parts, rule Japan, and with good reason. They live up to their name in many ways by offering people food, caffeination, emergency groceries (where else can one find a cucumber at 2 a.m?), copies, photo prints, banking services (and accounts), magazines, books and much more at any time of day.

In addition to the usual exotic assortment of foods (squid jerky, wasabi-chips, fish-sausages, etc.) they also provide a veritable smorgasbord of odd foods. Many of these items, especially the drinks, are seasonal or temporary. Things get rotated out all the time. So you have to keep your eye open for what may be a once in a lifetime taste experience.
Lately I have been noticing what I call combini combos. Here we have the legendary fried noodle sandwich.
And here we have a strawberry sandwich? Is it breakfast? Is it desert? It's best not to consider what happens to sandwiches in this country.
With all of these odd combos floating around, I was tempted to make my own combini combo, using materials I got at local combini. Let me show you how to make it!
First got my corn and mayonnaise covered bread.
Here I am with a weiner in my mouth. We just don't need that wood anymore, so I'm extracting it. Like a man.
Then I put the weiner onto the bread and make a combo that I call "corn dog".
Go out an make a combo today!
