Old Japanese Motifs be Stylin

By Claytonian

Recently, fellow Jib-TV blogger Anna wrote a post about the possible change to a more retro culture among the ladies of Japan.  It inspired me to write this article, where I will show you a few items from a really retro movement that is happening on the guys' end of things.

I have no idea what this eclectic mix is called in Japanese, but the common themes include 竜 (ryuu、 Chinese dragons), 桜 (sakura, cherry tree blossoms), 鯉 (koi, ornamental carp), and
火の鳥 (hi no tori, phoenixes).

Here's some samples:

All four pockets on this one are not only covered in tradition patterns, but also functioning.

2.jpg
A bunch of coin purses and other small bags.

3.jpg
Here we can see the gods of wind and thunder chillin' in the clouds.

Here's another rendition of the same guys, but this one is embroidered onto some pants.

5jacket.jpg
A leather dragon jacket will either make or break your coolness factor. Wear with caution.

6shinypants.jpg
The gold on these pants was impressively shiny.

Even hats, socks, and underwear get the wabi-sabi treatment.  If you come to Japan, this sort of store has tons of nostalgic and Japanesesque items for you to grab up.
