In the past six months Japan International Broadcasting Inc. has expanded its distribution networks especially in Asian countries. First of all, our recent launch into Republic of Korea was a big one step forward for the channel. "jibtv" inaugurated in Korea's broadcasting provider, "Sky Life", from April 1, 2010, aired through KoreaSat: Sky Blue HD Channel 97. Sky Life is the digital media leader in Korea, providing over 150 specialized channel with the latest digital satellite broadcasting system. Sky HD is the only 24 hour HD channel in Korea.
Hatsuhisa Takashima, President and CEO of Japan International Broadcasting Inc. says "I am particularly glad that jibtvprograms are now available in Korea in HD format, as more viewers are now moving on to high quality HD television. We would like to strengthen our HD distribution, together with expanding the receivable households around the globe especially those who live in the neighboring countries."
Other remarkable launch in Asian region this year, are in Malaysia's DE Multimedia (IPTV) International Channel 12, Sri Lanka's Dialog TV (Satellite IS-12) Channel 32, and in Guam through Marianas Cablevision(Cable TV) Digital Basic and TeleGuam Holdings GUdTV(IPTV) SD-Channel 61 / HD-Channel 461.
Another great endeavor for JIB this year was the launch into Hawaii's Oceanic Time Warner Cable. From February 12, 2010, NGN (Nippon Golden Network) started carrying jibtv programs in both standard and high-definition formats through Oceanic Time Warner Cable's digital channel 682 and HD Digital Basic channel 1682.
The launch ceremony was held in Hawaii on February 16, 2010, participated by around 50 invited guests including the Senator of Hawaii, Mr. Daniel K. Inouye, and other local leaders and broadcasters. Live broadcasting of the channel was shown at the reception using the 52 inch HD television screen, which everyone commented on its exceptional picture quality.
jibtv programs are now available at 125 million households in around 120 countries, as of April 2010, and is moving forward to extend our channel distribution across the globe.
